OMV receives leadership ranking for climate change from CDP
- CDP ranks OMV as "Leadership A–" in the climate change category
- OMV is one of the top eleven oil and gas companies worldwide
- OMV is one of the four best companies in Austria
At the end of January, CDP published the results of its latest analysis of 6,937 companies worldwide in the climate change category. Here OMV was awarded the ranking of "Leadership A–“ for the third time in a row. This makes OMV one of the top eleven companies in the global oil and gas sector. In Austria OMV is one of the four highest ranked companies regardless of sector. Since 2011, OMV has been providing data to CDP for it to evaluate its transparency and performance with regard to climate change.
"Receiving a CDP Leadership A– ranking for climate change is a great result for OMV. This is an exceptional achievement, especially in the oil and gas industry. It is a testament to our strategy in the field of sustainability, where we have also set binding targets for the first time – in areas that include CO2 efficiency. My thanks go to our employees who prove, day in, day out, that OMV means the energy for a better life", said OMV CEO Rainer Seele.
CDP is a not-for-profit charity that runs the global disclosure system for the management of environmental impacts. The CDP methodology provides a score which assesses progress towards environmental stewardship and CDP has built up the world's most comprehensive collection of self-reported environmental data.
OMV's achievements in sustainability are evaluated every year by multiple ratings agencies in the fields of Environment, Society and Governance (ESG). In addition to CDP, its powerful performance has also been confirmed by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, MSCI, ISS oekom, FTSE4Good and Sustainalytics (STOXX).
